Information

For prospective residents

We operate a two month rolling rent scheme. At the end of your term, charges may be levied for any damage to property and/or furnishings.

Rents are payable monthly on the 1st day of the month and are inclusive of heating, hot water, lighting and use of laundry facilities. Rents are payable during periods of absence unless the Wardens are able to re-let the room.

One month's notice is required by residents intending to leave Link House permanently. Link House Trust reserves the right to charge one month's rent in lieu of this notice. The Link House Trust will give one month's notice if it requires a resident to leave.

The houses are well equipped with communal kitchens, dining areas and living rooms. A communal television and DVD player is available in each house. If students have their own TVs in their rooms they need to purchase a TV license.

The Garden Room (situated between the Chesterton Road and East Hertford Street Houses) is available for students to use for communal, social or other suitable purposes. It has a table tennis table as well as facilities to make drinks and to serve and eat food. It is bookable through the Wardens.

A residents' telephone is available in each house (Chesterton Road-01223 359102, East Hertford Street-01223 311366). These will take incoming calls and permit emergency (999) outgoing calls. For ordinary outgoing calls residents will need to purchase a phone card obtainable from many shops in Cambridge. Telephone points are fitted in all rooms. Residents are responsible for arranging with the telephone company the connection if a phone is required, paying regularly for the service and arranging the disconnection before finally vacating the room.

Wireless Internet connection is available for £5 per month per computer.

Each resident is entitled to storage space in a kitchen cupboard, refrigerator and freezer.

Residents are responsible for cleaning and tidying their own rooms, storage space and whatever they use in the kitchen. On vacating a room, a charge of £15 for single and £20 for double room is taken for cleaning of room, furniture and fittings and allocated kitchen storage spaces.

Furniture, fittings, pillows and duvets are provided in each room. Residents are responsible for providing and cleaning their own bed linen. When first occupying a room linen will be provided by Link House Trust but this must be returned cleaned within two weeks unless an agreement otherwise is reached with the Wardens.

It is not permitted to wash clothes in rooms. Washing machines are available for residents' use. There is no additional charge for this but residents must provide their own washing powder. Clothes may be dried on the washing line in the garden (pegs provided) or in the dryer provided. These facilities are for Link House residents only.

The houses are all centrally heated and a warm temperature is maintained for the comfort of students.

Residents are responsible for arranging insurance for personal belongings.

Bicycles can be kept free of charge in the allocated racks provided.

Visitors are welcome at Link House and there is a bookable guest room available for out of town visitors.
