Rules of the Houses

When taking a room at Link House applicants should be aware that they would not just be renting a room with communal facilities but are entering a house with a family atmosphere and resident wardens. To facilitate and maintain this atmosphere the following rules apply:

Residents are responsible for cleaning their own rooms. Sellotape or nails must not be used when fixing pictures to the wall.

Residents must wash up and clean the kitchen utensils and appliances after use.

Smoking, alcohol and the use of illegal drugs is forbidden in the houses.

Communal areas must be kept tidy.

Clothes should not be washed in bedrooms.

Heaters must not be used in bedrooms without the permission of the wardens.

In the interests of safety no candles or naked flames are permitted in the bedrooms or lounge areas.

No cooking in bedrooms.

Food should not be kept in bedrooms unless in vermin proof containers.

No animals may be kept.

There is no parking for students at the East Hertford Street, Chesterton Road or the Lodge houses in accordance with Cambridge City Council regulations.

Visitors should leave the house by 11.30pm.

Visitors are not allowed in the kitchen.

Visitors from out of town may stay in the guest room (charge £15 single, if available) which should be pre booked with the Wardens.

The Garden Room must be vacated by 11pm

General good conduct, in keeping with the ethos of the Trust is expected. Residents deliberately breaking rules may be given one months notice. In situations of gross misconduct (risk to property/ person) residents may be asked to leave immediately.
